John BongiornoGroup Sales Director
With over 40 years of experience in negotiating the highest selling price for his clients, John (or Jack as he is widely known) has earned a reputation for being one of the most successful, dynamic and knowledgeable people in the Melbourne property industry today. He has always taken personal pride in planning strategies that best promote his clients’ interests and achieve their property goals. At the same time, as a Senior Director, he has been instrumental in building Marshall White into the company it is today, a market leader in Melbourne and one of the most respected and well recognised names in the real estate industry in Australia. John’s particular interest and talent for mentoring individual agents to develop their skills and careers as well as recognising and attracting top people, has been key to Marshall White’s success as a business.
As an auctioneer, John is different, powerful and most importantly, extremely successful. Over the years a number of his auctions have established price records. These results are a testament to John’s experience and ability to look after high profile properties and deal with high-pressure situations in front of large crowds and, even more importantly, to negotiate where necessary the best outcome for his vendors. After conducting over 4000 auctions, John is always proud to be known as a Vendor’s auctioneer. John is also more than happy to volunteer his auctioneering skills to conduct fund raising auctions for schools and charities whenever he can.
In his life outside real estate, John added another string to his bow in 2012 when he wrote the children’s book, Santa and His Brother Down Under that continues to be a great seller every Christmas, inspired by a family trip to the USA one Christmas. All the profits from the sale of the books are being donated to the KOALA Kids Foundation. John is a long-time supporter of KOALA Kids, a programme of the Children’s Cancer Centre Foundation that provides the small things that make a difference to the lives of children and young people with cancer and their families. He also supports charities such as Very Special Kids (VSK), the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) and Australian Prostate Centre (APC) just to name a few.
Alongside his wife Anne and four children Tom, Harry, Sam and Millie, in his spare time John likes to stay fit cycling and skiing, going to the races and supporting Collingwood. A keen follower of the Old Xaverian Football Club, he was recently made a life member as a result of his work for the club.
